a.    Business concept

Extensive research has been undertaken by Medors into the renewable sector and solar photovoltaic thermal panels. Contrary to popular belief, solar PV panels work more efficiently in cold sunny weather. It is assumed that hot sunny conditions are ideal, but, as solar PV panels get warmer they become less efficient. For an average PV panel for every degree that the panel’s temperature increases, it will become around 0.5% less efficient.

Bearing this in mind, the theory behind running both solar PV and solar thermal through the same panel is sound. The excess heat can be transferred from the solar PV-T panel via a heat exchanger located on the back of the panel and into heat transfer fluid that can be used to heat the home.  Using this technology the consumer will get free hot water for domestic use and central heating.

c.    Business competitiveness

Medors largest competitive advantage is its knowledge of technology.  Many academics have worked with Medors over the last few years and have formed a network to assist Medors develop new products and bring them to market to a wide range of businesses which form part of the network as well. Their project with Nottingham University will provide the opportunity to market the new technology to companies involved in the project and also to a number of businesses already involved with Nottingham University.

One of the other major advantages Medors has over its competitors is the cost of the product. Medors provides premium product sat highly competitive prices as Medors believes in building long term relationships with its customers.  A considerable percentage of their sales are generated through referrals as a result of the case studies sales.  This is due to them providing a supreme product with excellent service at competitive prices - this being at the heart of their business strategy and success.
